LIFE-SKILLS + CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
PCMAA LIFE-SKILLS
Character Development Program
Phil Clark’s Martial Arts Academy’s Life-Skills Character Development Program inspires children to live their best life! Students earn badges based upon learning and practicing a life-skill until it becomes a habit. One badge will be given per student once earned.
A new life-skill will be introduced in youth classes (as well as to school-age students that attend adult classes) every two months. Students will have the opportunity to earn the respective badge at the end of that time period. Each badge will have its own requirements, but attendance and participation are necessary for all six skills, as they will be discussed and reiterated in class. These life-skills are:
Courtesy, Respect, Perseverance, Integrity, Self-Control, & Indomitable Spirit
We have two other badges that can be earned anytime throughout the year. These are:
Academic Achievement & Physical Fitness
Applying Life-Skills Badges – Badges are for PCMAA approved uniforms only.
Taekwondo Students: These badges are Peel & Stick. No sewing or ironing on needed. You simply peel off backing and stick it to the garment. Throw in the dryer for 15 minutes on low heat and you have a badge that will adhere for a long time.
Jiu-Jitsu Students: The manufacturer recommends that you sew-on the badges due to the rolling and grappling that comes with practicing jiu-jitsu.
Badge Placement
Life-Skills Badges are placed two by two down the left shoulder, in no particular order.
American Flag Patches are placed on the right shoulder.
